The R.C. Rothman UCLA Head Gymnastics Coach Janelle McDonald has added another U.S. National Team standout to the 2026 roster, signing Ashlee Sullivan to a grant-in-aid.
Sullivan, who hails from Richardson, Texas and trains at Metroplex Gymnastics, is enjoying a breakout year in 2025. She started the year by winning all-around gold, floor exercise silver and balance beam bronze at the Winter Cup in February and then captured team gold at the DTB Mixed Cup and all-around bronze and team silver at the 2025 Jesolo Trophy. The two-time U.S. National Team member has competed at two U.S. Championships and at four Winter Cups. She has won a total of eight medals at the Winter Cup since 2021. In addition to her three this season, she also won all-around silver in 2023, balance beam bronze in 2023 and 2022, floor exercise bronze in 2023 and vault silver in 2021 as a junior. Sullivan also won team gold at the 2023 DTB Pokal Team Challenge and 2022 DTB Pokal Cup.ย
"We are excited to welcome Ashlee to Westwood," said McDonald. "She has a world class skill set with dynamic, beautiful and exciting gymnastics that she is bringing to the team. Ashlee is an incredibly determined, hard worker who brings positive energy and passion into all she does. That enthusiasm and work ethic will fit right into the team culture we have built and the goals we have. I see Ashlee making an immediate all-around impact for us this coming season, and I am so excited for her to join our Bruin Family this fall."ย
Sullivan joins an impressive freshman class that includes 2024 Olympic alternate and four-time U.S. National Team member Tiana Sumanasekera, three-time U.S. National Team member Nola Matthews, elite standout Jordis Eichman and Level 10 national qualifiers Ava-Marie Callahan and Kai Mattei.
