No. 1 UCLA Tames the LMU Lions, 22-10

LOS ANGELES --ย No. 1 UCLA (15-0) extended its winning streak to 18 games (dating back to last year's NCAA Championship run) with a 22-10 win at No. 12 LMU (4-7)ย on Saturday at Burns Aquatics Center. The Bruins improved to 33-0 all-time against the LMU Lions.
The Bruins' offense was led by a game-high seven points on a season-high-tying five goals from sophomore Ryder Dodd (added two assists). Junior Wade Sherlock scored his first hat trick of the year and added three assists to score six points.ย Sophomore Bode Brinkema netted his fourth hat trick of the year while redshirt senior Eli Liechty scored his second hat trick of the season.
Redshirt freshman Nick Tovani made his first collegiate start and tallied five saves and one steal while allowing nine goals in three quarters of action. Redshirtย sophomore Nate Tauscher played the first 4:21 of the fourth quarter, pitching a shutout while tallying two steals. Redshirt freshman Joey Kent played the final 3:39 of the game, tallying one save while giving up one score.
A total of 10 Bruins scored in the contest.
UCLA scored the first two goals of the game and won the first quarter, 5-3. The Bruins won the second quarter, 5-2, to build a 10-5 lead by halftime. UCLA exploded for eight goals in the third to take an 18-9 lead into the final stanza. The Bruins won the fourth quarter, 4-1, to provide the 22-10 final.
Up Next: The Bruins open MPSF play next weekend at No. 3 California on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m. PT at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Bruins will then take on No. 4 Stanford on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 p.m. PT at Avery Aquatic Center.
