Kelly Named AVCA National Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ UCLA men's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Sean Kelly has been named the AVCA Men's National Collegiate Player of the Week, the AVCA announced on Tuesday morning.
This marks the first time that Kelly has been named AVCA player of the week, and is his second honor of the 2026 season after being named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, March 9.
With Kelly earning AVCA National Player of the Week, it marks the 30th time overall that a Bruin has earned the honor, and the second time in 2026. Prior to Kelly, senior Zach Rama earned AVCA National Player of the Week honors for his play during the week of January 19, 2026.
Kelly led the Bruins in total kills in a series sweep over No. 5 USC over the weekend. For the week Kelly tallied 38 kills, recorded 4.22 kills per set, added 4.72 points per set, hit .438, and recorded 42.5 points.
The Manhattan Beach, California native totaled 38 kills and hit .438 over the two matches. Kelly tallied a career-high 21 kills in a five-set win over USC, while also adding seven digs, a solo block, and a solo block. He followed that performance with 17 kills, two aces, and six digs in a four-set win over USC inside Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial. Kelly hit .526 on Tuesday and .343 on Friday.
No. 1 UCLA returns to action on Thursday at the OUTRIGGER Invitational hosted by Hawai'i in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Bruins, who are 16-0 and have matched their best start to a season since 1998, will play Lewis in the first game of the tournament on Thursday, at 4 pm HT (7 pm PT). ย
