The Bruins celebrate after Jordan Chiles' final floor routine at home

UCLA Defeats Utah on Senior Night, 197.850-197.400

LOS ANGELES โ A school record crowd of 13,089 came out to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial to bid farewell to UCLA's senior class of Jordan Chiles, Ciena Alipio, Madisyn Anyimi and Carissa Clay. All four seniors delivered show-stopping performances to help the No. 5 Bruins defeat No. 12 Utah, 197.850-197.400.

Chiles won the all-around for the ninth consecutive week, scoring 39.800 with 9.950s across the board. She took first place on balance beam and floor exercise and was second on vault and uneven bars. Freshman Ashlee Sullivan took home the other event title for UCLA, winning vault with a nearly-perfect 9.975, a new career high. Alipio finished second on balance beam with a 9.925 and recorded leadoff scores of 9.850 on uneven bars and 9.800 on floor exercise. Clay made her UCLA competitive debut on balance beam and hit her routine for a 9.775. Anyimi scored 9.875 on uneven bars in an exhibition performance.
The Bruins (15-2) were consistent throughout the meet, hitting all 24 routines and scoring 49.400 or better on all four events. They started the meet with a season-high 49.475 on vault. Mika Webster-Longin scored 9.900 in the three-spot and set the tone for the rest of the vault squad, who all stuck their landings. Riley Jenkins scored 9.900 for the second-straight meet with her stuck Yurchenko 1.5. Sullivan drilled her 1.5 for a 9.975, and Chiles brought back her Yurchenko double full and stuck that for a 9.950. The Utes (13-4) kept it close with a 49.425 on uneven bars and closed the gap slightly after scoring 49.450 on vault in the second rotation while UCLA scored 49.425, with all six routines scoring 9.850 or higher, including Chiles' 9.950 and Sullivan's 9.900.
UCLA extended its lead from .025 to .175 after scoring 49.400 on beam. Sydney Barros led off with a strong 9.825, and the back three each of Tiana Sumanasekera (9.900), Chiles (9.950) and Alipio (9.925) finished the rotation with a flourish.

The final Pauley floor party was as raucous as it gets, and the Bruins rode the wave of fan support to take control of the meet with a 49.550. Alipio's final home routine merited a 9.800. Webster-Longin added a 9.875, and Barros scored 9.900. The freshmen - Sumanasekera and Sullivan โ showed that the Bruins would remain in good hands in the future, scoring 9.925 and 9.900, respectively. For her final routine at home, Chiles brought the house down with her sophomore year 90's hip-hop routine and scored another 9.950.
UCLA will enter the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill. next Saturday as the top seed and defending champion. The Bruins will compete in the final session at 5pm CT/3pm PT, along with Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota. The Championships will be televised live on Big Ten Network.
