May 02, 2026 | Women's Rowing
LOS ANGELES – The Bruins handled business on Senior Day, winning every race in the dual regatta against UC San Diego on Saturday morning.
No. 18-ranked UCLA battled a headwind and incoming current on Ballona Creek but prevailed in each of Saturday's four races.
The third and fourth varsity 8+ race started the day at 9:45 a.m. and was neck-and-neck between the two UCLA shells. The third varsity 8+ edged the 4V8+ by half a second in the opening race of the day. The fours were next; UCLA's 1V4+ took open water in the race and finished 13 seconds ahead of the 2V4+. The third varsity 4+ placed third in the race, beating out the Tritons' four-person shell by more than 10 seconds.
UCLA's second varsity 8+ claimed a comfortable victory over UC San Diego before the Bruins' 1V8+ flexed in the final race of the day. UCLA's top boat finished the course in 6:46.49, nearly 40 seconds faster than UC San Diego in the 1V8+ competition.
