Future UCLA gymnast Zoey Molomo placed second on vault and floor and third in the all-around and bars at the 2026 American Classic, while alumna Katelyn Ohashi made an inspiring return to competition after seven years, tying for third on balance beam.ย
Molomo, who will join the Bruins for the 2027 season, qualified as an all-arounder to the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships thanks to her all-around total of 52.700. Molomo earned the second-highest scores of the meet on vault (13.950) and floor exercise (13.050), finished in third place on uneven bars (12.800), and placed sixth on balance beam (12.900).ย
In her first gymnastics competition since the 2019 NCAA Championships and her first elite competition since winning the 2013 American Cup, Ohashi scored 13.150 on balance beam to earn bronze. The two-time NCAA champion made a surprise announcement of her return to gymnastics this week and came out of the gates ready to content, hitting all of her elements on beam, including a standing Arabian. She also competed on floor exercise with lighter tumbling on her first time out. ย ย
