2014
Played in 30 matches, making five starts … scored 22 goals (7th on the team) on 60 attempts, converting at a 36.7 percent rate … scored a season- and career-high five goals in the season-opening win over Redlands (Sept. 6) … he scored at least one goal in 14 matches, including multiple goals five times … scored one goal in each of the NCAA Championship matches including a huge goal on a skip shot from half-tank at the buzzer to end the scoring in the third with the Bruins leading 7-4 in the title match … also had 18 steals (7th on the team), 11 field blocks (tied for 2nd on the team) and seven assists.
2013
Played in all 32 matches, one of only three Bruins to accomplish that feat (Danny McClintick and Chris Wendt were the other two), making four starts … scored 22 goals (10th on the team) on 60 attempts, converting at a 36.7 percent rate … scored a season-high three goals in both wins over Concordia (Sept. 21 and Nov. 1) … had at least one goal in 15 matches, scoring multiple goals five times … was fifth on the team with 30 steals … also registered 19 steals, five field blocks and 13 earned exclusions, which ranked fourth on the squad.
Team USA
2015: Played in all eight games (173 minutes), making seven starts for Team USA at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea (July 2-14) … he scored 17 goals on 36 shots, converting at a 47.2 percent rate … his 17 goals ranked tied for 13th among all scorers in the tournament and was second on the squad … scored four goals on four shots in a 13-12 win over Japan in pool play … also scored four goals on nine shots in a 12-8 win over Turkey in pool play … also tallied five assists, four field blocks and one steal as the United States captured bronze at the World University Games. 2013: Played in all eight games (133 minutes) for Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia (July 6-17) … he scored eight goals (tied for second on the team with Lucas Reynolds) on 21 shots, converting at a 38.1 percent rate … also registered two steals, one assist and one field block as the United States captured fifth place at the World University Games … he also helped the USA to a fifth-place finish at the 2013 FINA Men’s Junior World Championships in Szombathely, Hungary (Aug. 12-18) … the Americans went 5-2 at the Junior Worlds … he played in seven games and tallied six goals and won eight sprints (led the team).
High School
Four-year (2009-12) varsity water polo letterwinner at Miramonte High School under head coach James Lathrop … also lettered four times (2010-13) in swimming for coach Donnie Heidary … a two-time All-CIF selection, Fellner was also a two-time All-American (2011-12), including a first-teamer in 2012 … a three-time All-DFAL selection, he served as team captain his senior year (2012) while being named the team’s and the Diablo Foothill Athletic League’s MVP … the Matadors were the North Coast Section (NCS) D-I champions in 2011 and 2012 … in 2012, he scored four goals in a 9-8 win over San Ramon Valley in the NCS D-I title game … he led Miramonte in goals, assists and steals in 2012.

Full name: Patrick John Fellner … born April 30, 1995 in Berkeley, Calif. … his parents are Robert and Finola Fellner … has two younger sisters, Betsy and Sally … his uncles, Matt, Pat and Noel Murphy, all played water polo at California … his aunt, Jennifer Sims, attended UCLA … competed with the Lamorinda Water Polo Club out of Contra Costa County … was a 16-U and 18-U Junior Olympic champion with Lamorinda … placed second with Team USA at the Pan-American Games in Canada, but lists going to the 2012 FINA World Youth Championships in Perth, Australia as his biggest thrill so far in his athletic career … lists his uncle, Matt Murphy, as the athlete he most admires … says he chose UCLA because “it is a great academic institution” … an avid outdoorsman, he lists skiing, surfing, hunting and fishing as his hobbies … majoring in geography/environmental studies.
