Ratledge Selected First-Team GTE Academic All-District

Men's volleyball player Ed Ratledge has been selected a first-team GTE Academic All-District VIII in the men's university spring at-large category. He is one of twenty student-athletes chosen to represent the district on the GTE Academic All-America ballot.
Ratledge, an opposite hitter on this year's NCAA Championship team, recorded 388 kills (.386) for the season and led all players with 4.8 kills per game.
In the NCAA Championship match against Ohio State, Ratledge came off the bench to serve two points, including an ace, to begin a match-winning rally from a 13-8 deficit in Game 3. The Bruins went on to win their 18th national championship.
Against Pepperdine in the MPSF Championships, Ratledge sparked the Bruins to victory with 27 kills (.380) and also added nine digs and a career high of seven blocks. He hit a career-high 46 kills against Cal State Northridge and broke his own school record by recording 21 kills in Game 4 against Northridge. He also spiked 43 kills (.508) against Hawaii, 34 against Brigham Young, and 33 against UC Santa Barbara.
Ratledge finished the conference season ranked 10th in kills per game at 5.66.
The senior from Fountain Valley, CA has a 3.50 GPA in psychology. He transferred from Long Beach State to UCLA after his sophomore year.
