Now in its 16th season, the UCLA Pacific Soccer Classic has come to be known as the West Coast's most prestigious collegiate tournament. The Classic returns in 2001 with its original four-team format after a brief turn in 2000 as the two-team Pacific Soccer Challenge, which UCLA won over Portland. The 2001 Classic features UCLA and Cal State Fullerton, along with southern power South Carolina and northern neighbor St. Mary's.
