UCLA POST-GAME NOTES

  • This win marks the 500th win in UCLA Football history.

  • UCLA has won six consecutive home openers since 1998.

  • UCLA has won 11 of its last 13 non-conference games dating back to 1999.

  • The series between Illinois and UCLA, dating back to 1947, is now tied at 5-5.

  • The win also marks the first for first-year Head Coach Karl Dorrell.

  • Tonight's game marks the first time since 1997 that UCLA has held an opponent without a touchdown (last time: Sept. 13, 1997 vs. 11th-ranked Texas).

  • The 6-3 final score is the first time both UCLA and its opponent had been held to single digit scoring since November 13, 1993. (9-3 loss to Arizona State)

  • Tonight's game marked the lowest scoring UCLA game since December 31, 1991, when UCLA defeated Illinois 6-3 in the John Hancock Bowl.

  • Senior linebacker Brandon Chillar recorded a career-high 14 tackles in the win. His previous career-high was 13, set last week at Colorado.

  • The last time UCLA faced a top-ranked opponent was September 6th, 1986 at Oklahoma. The Bruins were ranked fourth and lost 38-3.

    ILLINOIS POST GAME NOTES

  • Senior safety Marc Jackson recorded his second interception of his career in the third quarter. It was the first of the season for the Illini.

  • This is the first game since the 1998 season that an Illinois squad has failed to score a touchdown.
