Ker, Klosterman Earn All-America Honors

June 13, 2006

Two UCLA players earned All-America honors from Volleyball Magazine, the publication announced in its July issue.

UCLA sophomore libero Tony Ker and junior opposite Steve Klosterman were selected to the first and second teams, respectively, after pacing UCLA to its 19th NCAA title in men's volleyball last month. Ker also was named the national Defensive Player of the Year.

Ker (Valencia, CA, Valencia HS) earned his second straight All-America distinction after leading the Bruins in digs (2.79/gm) and passing better than 97% of his service receptions. Ker also scored five points during the season, a school record for a libero.

Klosterman, who underwent shoulder surgery a year ago, returned to limited playing time in mid-January and steadily improved throughout the season. During the Bruins' championship run, he averaged 4.04 kpg and hit .303. At the NCAA Championship, he recorded 28 kills in two matches (4.6 kpg) and hit .379 to earn Most Outstanding Player honors.
