Maxwell Griffin Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior forward Maxwell Griffin (Palmdale, CA/Littlerock HS) of the UCLA men's soccer team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 10-16.

Griffin scored four goals in two games as UCLA picked up its first victories of the season. He recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-1 win over Penn State on Sunday and scored the game's first goal in the ninth minute in a 3-1 win over 12th-ranked and previously undefeated Ohio State on Friday. Against Ohio State, Griffin gave UCLA the early lead with a goal in the ninth minute, and the Bruins went on to score three unanswered goals. Against Penn State, he scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute and went on to score two more in the half to record UCLA's first hat trick in four years. Griffin now leads the team in scoring with four goals and eight points.

This is Griffin's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.
