Road Trip Continues to Long Beach State and UC San Diego

April 7, 2010

Seventh-ranked UCLA (14-11, 9-9) continues its grueling five-match road trip this week with matches at No. 8 Long Beach State (12-13, 8-10) on Apr. 9 and at No. 14 UC San Diego (8-17, 4-14) on Apr. 10. First serve for both contests is set for 7 p.m.

Darren Preston will call the audio play-by-play on uclabruins.com from The Pyramid on Friday night. There will be no broadcast of Saturday's match.

Head Coach Al Scates will attempt to win his 1,200th career match Friday night at Long Beach State. Scates, in his 48th season, has won 1,199 career matches, more than any Division I volleyball coach of either gender. He has guided UCLA to 19 NCAA titles, another national leader.

Currently, the Bruins are seventh in the MPSF race, one match behind USC in the loss column and one match ahead of Long Beach State. The top eight teams will advance to the conference playoffs with the MPSF Tournament champion receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, May 6 & 8 at Stanford.
