May 19, 2011

The UCLA men's soccer team will kick off the 2011 season on August 27 at Louisville with a rematch of the 2010 NCAA Quarterfinals. The Bruins will face five teams in 2011 that advanced to NCAA Tournament play a year ago - Louisville, Santa Clara, UC Santa Barbara, SMU, and California.

UCLA will play its first of 11 home games at Drake Stadium on Sept. 9 vs. Saint Mary's. Other home schedule highlights include games against UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 16, SMU on Sept. 25 and California on Sept. 30 in the Pac-12 opener.

The Bruins return every starter and every point producer from last season's NCAA quarterfinalist squad, including 2010 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and U.S. Under-20 National Team starter Kelyn Rowe (7g, 10a). Also returning are U.S. Under-20 National Team player Eder Arreola (4g, 7a), 2010 Team MVP Brian Rowe (8 shutouts), leading scorer Victor Chavez (10g, 5a), 2010 first-team All-Pac-10 honoree Andy Rose and NSCAA All-Region honoree Matt Wiet.
