UCLA senior midfielder Andy Rose and sophomore forward Reed Williams each scored a goal to lead the host Ventura Country Fusion (PDL) to a 3-1 victory over Doxa Italia (UASA) in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

After the Fusion got behind 1-0 early, Rose tied up the game with a penalty kick in the 33rd minute, and Mark Magee scored the go-ahead goal 10 minutes later. Williams came off the bench to put the game away in the 79th minute with a breakaway goal. Senior defender Shawn Singh started and played all 90 minutes at left back for the Fusion.

Ventura will host USL-Pro squad Los Angeles Blues on Tuesday, June 21 at 7 pm at Ventura College. UCLA alumni Nelson Akwari and Leonard Griffin are amongst the players on the Blues team. The Blues defeated the NPSL's Hollywood United, 3-1, in the first round.
