Women's Volleyball Adds Four to Recruiting Class

Head coach Michael Sealy has announced that four future Bruins have signed Statements of Intent to Register and the quartet will join UCLA in the Fall. Putting on the blue and gold starting in 2012 will be Hannah Boland (Palo Alto, Calif./Castilleja HS/Vision Volleyball), Karly Drolson (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS/Wave Volleyball), Phelix Fincher (North Hollywood, Calif./Campbell Hall School/Legacy Volleyball) and Rachel Inouye (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Punahou School/'Imi 'Ike Volleyball).
This foursome, along with the three (Maddy Klineman, Haley Lawless and Rebecca Strehlow) that were signed during the early period in November (story here), bring the Bruins' recruiting class to seven.
Boland, a 6-2 outside hitter/middle blocker, was named to the MaxPreps California All-State Division V First Team as a senior. She was also a two-time First Team West Bay Athletic League honoree (2010 and `11) and a 2011 San Jose Mercury News All-Area Honorable Mention award winner. Boland had 369 kills, 26 aces and 110 blocks in her final season at Castilleja, helping the Gators to a Central Coast Section Championship and a berth in the State Tournament. She plays club with Vision Volleyball and earned a bronze medal at the 2011 USAV Girls' Volleyball Junior National Championships.
"Hannah is a huge get for us," Sealy said. "Her ability to play a variety of positions makes her a very important player on our roster. I am confident playing her on the left, middle or right, and know that she will be needed from the outset."
Drolson, a 5-7 libero/defensive specialist, was named to the MaxPreps California All-State Division I First Team as a senior. She was also named to the All-San Diego First Team, Palomar League Player of the Year and All-Palomar League First Team. Drolson helped the Falcons to a league title, a San Diego Section Championship and a State Tournament berth in 2011. She plays club with Wave Volleyball and helped them to a Championship at the 2011 Northeast J.O. Qualifier.
"Karly is a great defensive talent," Sealy said. She is a very steady passer and relentless on defense, which makes her a legitimate candidate to fill the vacated libero position. She is a high energy player that can positively affect the players around her."
Fincher, a 5-5 libero/defensive specialist, helped the Campbell Hall Vikings to an Alpha League title in 2011 and a berth in the CIF Southern Section Tournament. Fincher plays club with Legacy Volleyball.
"Phelix is another consistent and dynamic defender," Sealy said. "She can pass and play defense, and will solidify the ball control aspect of our team. She is playing at a very high level and I think that she will make the jump to the college level effortlessly."
Rachel Inouye, a 5-6 libero/defensive specialist, helped Punahou School to Interscholastic League titles in 2010 and 2011. The top ranked team in Hawai'i, the Buff n' Blu were 15-1 and the 16th ranked team in the nation, according to ESPN Rise. Inouye plays club with `Imi `Ike Volleyball.
"Rachel is a solid passer and defender," Sealy said. "She is very technically sound and has the ability to make dynamic defensive plays. She will increase the volleyball IQ in the gym right away."
