WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference and the Pac-12 Networks announced on Wednesday the women's volleyball television schedule for the 2012 season. The Bruins will be featured on the Pac-12 Networks 14 times.
"Having more women's volleyball matches televised, first and foremost, is going to grow the game of volleyball," head coach Michael Sealy said. "Regardless of who is on TV, the more exposure we can get as a sport is great for growing the game. For UCLA, it's amazing. It gives us a chance to showcase our program, our talent and our abilities as a team."
"It is very exciting to be in a position to deliver unprecedented exposure to a sport as dynamic as women's volleyball," said Gary Stevenson, President Pac-12 Enterprises. "With 14 NCAA titles, including UCLA's last year, there is no denying the Pac-12's strength in women's volleyball. With the international matches as well as our full conference schedule, fans will have an opportunity to see some of the very best volleyball players in the world every week on the Pac-12 Networks."
The first televised match for the defending national champions will be on Aug. 29 when the Bruins host an exhibition contest with Chinese team Jiangsu. The first regular-season match on the Pac-12 Networks will be on Sept. 12 when UCLA entertains Pepperdine.
The remaining 12 televised matches will be during the conference portion of the schedule, including the first televised women's volleyball contest in the new Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 23 versus USC.

In its inaugural season, the Pac-12 Networks brings an unprecedented level of exposure to its acclaimed member institutions that have combined to collect a record 450 NCAA titles. The 82 televised Pac-12 women's volleyball matches are just a portion of 217 exciting events including football, men's and women's soccer, men's water polo, field hockey and cross country telecast over 100 days this fall, putting the Conference of Champions on a national stage.
The Pac-12 Networks launch August 15 and will consist of one national and six regional networks devoted solely to the Pac-12. In addition to the hundreds of live televised Pac-12 sporting events, Pac-12 Networks subscribers will have access to their carrier's TV Everywhere platform, providing access to all Pac-12 Networks programming on any device through their broadband service.
