    • Senior forward Maylana Martin (Perris, Calif./Perris HS) of the women's basketball team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 18-23.

    Martin led the Bruins to a sweep of the Arizona schools, averaging 18.5 points and 10 rebounds and shooting 14-21 for the weekend. Against 16th-ranked Arizona, Martin scored 19 points with eight rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals in 26 minutes of play. Against Arizona State, Martin led all players with 18 points and 12 rebounds and also contributed two blocks, one steal and one assist. She moved past both Sandra VanEmbriqs and Ann Meyers into fourth place on the all-time school rebounding list with a current total of 820.

    Martin, who was named this week?s Pac-10 Player of the Week, has led UCLA to a six-game winning streak, and the Bruins remain the only unbeaten team in the conference.

    This is Martin?s second selection as the MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week. She was previously selected Dec. 6-12.
