TEAM NOTES
*UCLA finishes the season 9-4 on the season … it is the most wins in a season since the 2014 team went 10-3.
*UCLA is now 16-20-1 in bowl games after the loss in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
*UCLA finished the Sun Bowl with a total of 451 yards of total offense to improve the season mark to 6,545 yards of total offense which is a new school record. The old school record for total offense was 6,531 yards set in 2012.
*UCLA finished the season with 3,279 rushing yards and surpassed the 3,000-yard rushing mark for the fifth time in school history. The school record for most rushing yards in a season is 4,403 yards set in 1973. The most recent 3,000-yard rushing mark by a Bruin team came in 1976 (3,978).
*UCLA set a school record by averaging over 500 yards of total offense for the first time in school history. The Bruins finished with an average of 503.5 yards per game (6,545 yards in 13 games). The old school record mark was 487.25 yards per game set in 1998.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
*Dorian Thompson-Robinson finishes his career as UCLA’s all-time leader in career starts by a quarterback (48), TDs accounted for (116), total offense (12,522), TD passes (88) and completions (860).
*DTR also completed his Bruin career as UCLA’s career quarterback rushing leader with 1,827 yards after running for 15 yards against Pitt … he moved past John Sciarra, 1972-75 in the Sun Bowl who had 1,813 for his career.
*Jake Bobo caught three passes for 28 yards against Pitt to give him 57 catches for the season which is good for 19th on the single-season UCLA list. He finished the season with 817 receiving yards which is 17th on that school list. Bobo caught at least three passes in each game this season.
*Laiatu Latu was credited with one sack to raise his season total to 10.5 which is the most by a Bruin player since Anthony Barr had 13.5 in 2012.
*Darius Muasau recorded a UCLA career high of 14 tackles against Pitt. It was Muasau’s third double-digit tackle effort of the 2022 season after having 12 at Arizona State and 10 vs. South Alabama. He had 13 such games in his two seasons at Hawai’i.
*Defensive lineman Jay Toia was named the Sun Bowl Lineman of the Game after finishing with a career-best with 10 stops. It is the most tackles by a Bruin defensive lineman since Mitchell Agude was credited with 10 against USC in 2021.
*Atonio Mafi and Stephan Blaylock finished their UCLA careers tied for the school record by playing in their 56th career games in the Sun Bowl. Dorian Thompson-Robinson made his 48th career start in the Sun Bowl which ties him for second on the all-time school starts list with linebacker Spencer Havner, 2002-05.
*Defensive back Stephan Blaylock started his 44th straight game for the Bruins in the Sun Bowl.
*Running back TJ Harden recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game with 111 yards against Pitt on 11 carries. His previous best was 89 yards on 12 attempts at Cal.
*Logan Loya caught his third scoring reception of the season in the first quarter of the Sun Bowl (11 yards). His previous TD catches this season came against Alabama State and Utah.
*Wide receiver Kam Brown registered the second 100-yard receiving game of his career with his 115-yard effort in the Sun Bowl. He had a 111-yard receiving game in 2021 in a game against Fresno State.
*Wide receiver Titus Mokiao-Atimalala caught his first scoring pass as a Bruin in the second quarter of the Sun Bowl on a 28-yard play. He caught one scoring pass while at Central Florida in a 2021 game against Boise State.
*Defensive back Jaylin Davies picked off his team-high third pass of the season in the third quarter of the Sun Bowl and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown. It is the first interception return for a touchdown by a Bruin player since Jay Shaw returned a theft 39 yards for a score in a 2020 game against Stanford. Davies picked off passes earlier this season against Alabama State and Arizona State.
