UCLA at Penn State
University Park, Pa. (Beaver Stadium)
October 5, 2024
– QB Justyn Martin, OL Sam Yoon, and TE Jack Pedersen all made their first-career starts on Saturday.
– Martin completed 22 of 30 pass attempts for 167 yards and one touchdown (no interceptions, no fumbles lost). The fourth-quarter touchdown completed marked his first-ever touchdown pass.
– WR Logan Loya reeled in a 1-yard touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter, his team-high second TD reception of the season.
– UCLA converted on a two-point conversion late (Justyn Martin with a 2-yard pass to Keegan Jones) in the fourth quarter, the Bruins’ first since the 2022 season (Dorian Thompson-Robinson had a 2-yard pass to Jake Bobo).
– LB Ale Kaho was a starter on defense for UCLA, marking his first start since the 2021 campaign.
– RB T.J. Harden had a 53-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter, matching UCLA’s longest play from scrimmage this season (53-yard Rico Flores reception at Hawai’i).
– Harden’s 53-yard reception more than doubled his previous career-long for a reception (25 yards vs. Colorado, 2023).
– LB Carson Schwesinger led the Bruins with a career-high 15 tackles. It was the third straight game he led UCLA in tackles, and fourth overall this season. It also marked his third consecutive game setting a career-high in total tackles, following outings of 12 tackles against LSU and 13 tackles against Oregon.
– Schwesinger became just the second Bruin since 2019 to notch 15 tackles in a game (Mo Osling III, 2022).
– DE Oluwafemi Oladejo notched his first full sack as a Bruin on Saturday. It was also UCLA’s first sack since week 1 at Hawaii.
– Oladejo also finished with a team-high 2.0 tackles for loss (TFL). It was his first multi-TFL performance of the year.
– With 10 tackles, Oladejo matched his single-game career high as a Bruin.
– RB Jalen Berger had an 18-yard rush in the third quarter, his longest as a Bruin.
