Postgame Notes
UCLA 20, Fresno State 13
Nov. 30, 2024

- K Mateen Bhaghani connected on a pair of first-half field goals, from 23 and 40 yards out. It marked his eighth game of the season with multiple FG makes.
- LS Travis Drosos forced a fumble on a first-half punt, which was recovered by DB Jadyn Marshall. It marked UCLA’s first special teams takeaway of the season. It was the first-career forced fumble for Drosos, and first fumble recovery for Marshall.
- LB Carson Schwesinger did a little bit of everything on Saturday, posting a team-high 15 tackles while also blocking a punt, recording one pass breakup, and notching one sack (the PBU and sack came on consecutive plays to force a FSU punt in the second quarter).
- With his 15 tackles, Schwesinger paced the Bruins in tackling for the 10th time in 12 games this year. It was also his ninth double-digit-tackle effort of the year, the most by a Bruin defender since Eric Kendricks in 2014 (Kendricks won the Butkus Award that season as the nation’s top linebacker).
- Schwesinger became the first UCLA player to block a punt since Kain Medrano at Arizona on Nov. 4, 2023.
- Schwesinger finished the campaign with 90 solo tackles (79 + 11 today), the most by a Big Ten player since Northwestern’s Chris Bergin had 84 in 2021.
- LB Kain Medrano matched a career high with 3.0 tackles for loss. Earlier this season, he notched 3.0 TFLs against Indiana.
- TE Moliki Matavao set career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (120). He had two catches of 20+ yards, including a season-long 35-yard reception.
- Matavao finished the year with a team-high 10 receptions of 20+ yards.
- QB Ethan Garbers passed for 289 yards and a touchdown on Saturday, the third most in a single game in his career. He did not commit a turnover.
