Bill Barrett was a world record-setting swimmer who captained UCLA to its first national men's swimming title in 1982. Barrett was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic team that boycotted the Games in Moscow. After winning three consecutive NCAA 200 individual medley titles (the event in which he set a world record), he was a silver medalist in the 200 IM at the 1982 World Championships and at the 1983 Pan Am Games.
