Current men's tennis head coach Billy Martin has won NCAA championships as both a player and coach at UCLA. As a freshman in 1975, he won the Pac-10 and NCAA singles titles and led the Bruins to a 19-0 record and the NCAA team title. Martin turned pro after one year at UCLA and went on to win ATP Rookie of the Year honors in 1977. That year, he made it to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 32 and was inducted into the ITA Tennis Hall of Fame in 1996, the USTA Midwest Section Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Southern California Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 2011. Martin was named head coach of the Bruins in 1994 after serving as an assistant coach for 10 years, and he has guided UCLA to a 499-106 overall record during his tenure. He led UCLA to a NCAA Championship in 2005 and has four second-place finishes. A four-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Martin has led UCLA to 11 conference titles and coached two NCAA singles champions and one NCAA doubles champion.
