Henry 'Red' Sanders
  • Induction:
    1984
The last of the great Single-Wing coaches, Red Sanders produced UCLA's first golden era in football. During his nine years as head coach (1949-1957), Sanders compiled a record of 66-19-1. His teams won three consecutive Pacific Coast Conference championships (1953-1955), and in 1954 Sanders led the Bruins to their lone unbeaten and untied season and the national championship. His winning percentage of .773 is still the highest in UCLA history. Sanders, who also coached at Vanderbilt for six seasons, died at 53 in 1958.
