Jim Salsbury

An All-America guard on UCLA's national championship football team in 1954, Jim Salsbury was a devastating defensive player and an extraordinary blocker. Following graduation, Salsbury was a second-round draft choice of the Detroit Lions in 1955. He played two seasons for the Lions and two more for Green Bay before retiring following the 1958 season. Salsbury then worked in the wholesale furniture business until retiring in 1983. In the L.A. Times' Best of Sports 1900-1999 edition, he was honored on the Southland's first team of the 20th century for college football.
