Forward Kiki Vandeweghe was an Academic All-America and an NCAA postgraduate scholarship award winner even as he was leading the Bruins to basketball's Final Four. He was the first-round draft choice of the Dallas Mavericks in 1980, then was traded to Denver. He played 13 seasons in the NBA for the Nuggets, Trailblazers, Knicks, and Clippers. He remained active as a coach in basketball camps and joined Dallas' staff as a part-time assistant in 1999. In July of 2001, he became the Dallas Mavericks' General Manager.
