Kirk Kilgour is an inspiration to athletes around the world. Though paralyzed in 1976, the former volleyball star still exhibits the competitiveness and will to win that characterized his career as a power-hitting spiker, carrying on his volleyball work and collegiate coaching career from a wheelchair. Kilgour helped the Bruins forge a 53-2 record and win back-to-back national titles in 1970 and 1971. Tragedy struck in 1976 in the form of a training accident. UCLA's annual Kilgour Cup benefit match honors him.
