Mitch Gaylord
- Induction:
- 1995
The peak of Mitch Gaylord's brilliant gymnastics career came in 1984, when he helped propel UCLA to its first NCAA title and the United States to its first gold medal in the sport. At the 1984 NCAAs, Gaylord became only the second Bruin to win the all-around competition. Then, he sparked the U.S. team by scoring a 10.0 on the parallel bars during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He also earned individual medals for the vault (a share of the silver), rings (bronze) and parallel bars (bronze). He played the lead role in the 1986 gymnastics movie "American Anthem." Gaylord also worked as the stunt double for Robin in the 1995 movie "Batman Forever."
