
No. 7 UCLA Women's Soccer Dodges Upset to Tie Washington 3-3

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The No. 7 UCLA women's soccer team tied Pac-10 opponent Washington 3-3 today at UCLA's North Athletic Field.
With only 25 seconds remaining in the game, UCLA forward Tracey Milburn tied up the score when she headed in a goal from five yards out.
The game was about to go into overtime when referee Bob Martinez issued a red card to Husky defender Erin Ash with only one second remaining in regulation. Junior defender Karissa Hampton took the penalty kick for the Bruins, but her wide shot sent the game into sudden death overtime.
In overtime, UCLA outshot Washington 12-3, but neither team could convert. Both UCLA goalkeeper CiCi Peterson and Husky goalie Hope Solo pulled down several remarkable saves.
UCLA took an early 2-0 lead in the first half off goals from defender Krista Boling and midfielder Lauren Emblem. Forward Anna Biddle put the Huskies on the scoreboard with 43:35 on the clock.
In the second half, Washington went on a 2-0 run off goals from Andrea Morelli and Theresa Wagner to pull ahead 3-2.
UCLA's record now stands at 11-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies are now 4-7-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Pac-10 action.
Next week the Bruins travel to Northern California to battle No. 16 Stanford on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 pm and Cal on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 pm.
