SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 3 North Carolina women's soccer team handed No. 9 UCLA a 4-0 defeat Friday evening on the first day of the University of San Diego Puma Invitational.
The score was 0-0 in the first half but the Tar Heels notched four goals in the second half to shut out the Bruins. UCLA fought hard and had a few scoring opportunities in the game but was unable to capitalize.
Freshman forward Kim Patrick led the Tar Heels with two goals.
UCLA goalkeeper CiCi Peterson grabbed three saves for the Bruins, while Tar Heels goalkeeper Jenni Branam pulled down one save.
UCLA's record now falls to 7-2 while North Carolina's record now stands at 8-2.
The Bruins face Texas Christian University next on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 pm in the second day of the USD Invitational.
