HONOLULU - Led by 14 kills apiece by Evan Thatcher and Mark Williams, the fourth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team cruised past No. 5 Hawai'i 3-1 (15-4, 12-15, 15-7, 15-11) Friday night in front of 6,507 in attendance at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. The Bruins' well-balanced attack featured six players recording double-figures in kills. In addition to Thatcher and Williams, Scott Morrow (11), Ed Ratledge (11), Seth Burnham (11) and Brandon Taliaferro (10) each recorded 10-plus kills in the contest. Morrow also tallied 11 blocks on the night for the double-double. Morrow's block total marked the fifth time this season that the freshman has reached double figures in blocks. Overall, UCLA outblocked Hawai'i 17 1/2-10 and held the Rainbows to a meager .258 hitting percentage.
