
No. 3 UCLA Men's Tennis Defeats No. 60 Arizona, 6-1

Tucson, Ariz. - The UCLA men's tennis team, slated at No. 3 in the national rankings, improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over No. 60 Arizona this afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. Today's match was the Pac-10 opener for both teams.
The Bruins rebounded from last week's slow start in doubles to sweep the Cats in doubles play to take a 1-0 advantage. The 45th-ranked and No. 1 tandem of Jean-Noel Grinda and Jean-Julien Rojer claimed their first victory in dual meet action after defeating Arizona's Steven Capriati and Whi Kim, 8-5.
In singles, No. 47 Erfan Djahangiri was upset by Kim, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to give Arizona its first point of the match. Freshman Tobias Clemens, playing at the No 2 spot for the first time this season, clinched the match for the Bruins by defeating Tom Lloyd of Arizona, 6-3, 6-2.
UCLA returns to action tomorrow against Arizona State at noon.
