San Diego, Calif. - A 15th-minute goal by sophomore forward Matt Taylor (Irvine, Calif.) gave UCLA a 2-1 road victory over San Diego State Sunday afternoon.

UCLA jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after freshman midfielder Aaron Lopez (Santa Barbara, Calif.) scored his second goal of the season at the 5:22 mark off a Dru Hoshimiya assist. However, the Aztecs struck right back just 33 seconds later, as Kevin Sapanli scored with the equalizer.

Taylor gave UCLA its lead back for good at 14:58, heading in a Cliff McKinley free kick for the game-winner. The goal was Taylor's second of the season.

UCLA dominated offensively, recording 28 shots while the Bruin defense allowed just eight. Bruin keeper Zach Wells needed to make just one save in the victory.

The Bruins (4-4-2) open Pac-10 conference play next weekend with home matches against California and Stanford.
