Los Angeles, Calif. - The UCLA men's soccer team defeated a team of Bruin alumni, 2-1, in an exhibition game at Spaulding Field Sunday night. Juniors Tim Pierce and Chadd Davis scored for the current team, while Brian Irvin (1993-96) scored for the alumni.

After a scoreless first half, Pierce put the Bruins on the board in the 55th minute. The junior forward took a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Nick Rimando (1997-99), but Pierce collected the rebound and put his follow-up shot into the back of the net. Davis made the score 2-0 10 minutes later, with Cliff McKinley recording the assist.

The alumni got on the board to cut the lead in half in the 75th minute after Pete Vagenas (1996-99) set up Irvin's goal, but it was too little, too late.

The starting lineup for the alumni were MLS players Rimando, Vagenas, Jimmy Conrad (1996-97) and Steve Shak (1997-99), along with 1997 NCAA Championship team members Nick Paneno (1996-99), Craig Hart (1996-99), Ryan Lee (1997-00) and Shaun Tsakiris (1997-00), 1990 NCAA Championship team member Tayt Ianni (1990-93), Irvin and Eddie Salcedo (1994-95). UCLA assistant coach Jorge Salcedo (1990-93) and Junior Gonzalez (1995-98) also played for the alumni.
