Second ranked UCLA was upset, 3-2, by Stanford in men's volleyball Friday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Cardinal (9-4, 6-3) won 30-28, 30-27, 28-30, 27-30, 18-16 in two hours and 22 minutes before 1,023 fans.
The loss snapped UCLA's three-match winning streak and overshadowed junior Ian Burnham's fine performance. Burnham came off the bench and slammed a career high of 20 kills (.324) to go along with seven digs and three block assists. Sophomore Cameron Mount added 16 kills and senior Mark Williams contributed 14 kills and a season high of 15 digs.
The Bruins fell to 13-5 overall, 7-3 in MPSF Pacific Division play.
Stanford All-American Curt Toppel led all players with 26 kills (.415) and junior Marcus Skacel added 23. The victory snapped Stanford's three-match losing streak.
The Bruins host Pacific, Sat., Mar. 10 in a 7 p.m. MPSF match in Pauley Pavilion.
