The third-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team defeated UC San Diego 3-1 Saturday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins won 30-28, 30-24, 28-30, 31-29 in one hour and 55 minutes in front of 504 fans.
The victory raised UCLA's record to 4-3 overall, 1-2 in conference play. The Tritons fell to 2-4, 0-2 in conference play.
Junior Chris Pe?a led the Bruins with a career-high 21 kills (.645) and six block assists. Sophomores Paul Johnson and Jonathan Acosta added 14 and 13 kills, respectively. The Bruins out-hit the Tritons .397 to .314 and out-blocked them 12.5-7.0.
Junior Jim Waller led the Tritons with 20 kills.
Next week, the Bruins travel to BYU for a pair of conference matches on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
