
Nikki Blue Named UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week

Sophomore guard Nikki Blue (Bakersfield, CA/West HS) of the UCLA Women's Basketball Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-25.
Blue averaged 22 points in games versus No. 6 Stanford and California and scored the game-winning basket with 1.7 seconds remaining against Cal to give UCLA a 67-66 victory. In the Cal game, Blue's driving layup erased a six-point deficit with 2:04 to play and completed UCLA's comeback win. She shot 8-12 from the field and had a game-high 19 points, along with three steals. Against Stanford in a 78-71 overtime loss, Blue tied her season-high with 25 points and had team-highs with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
This is Blue's second UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
Also nominated: Paul Johnson, M. Volleyball (hit .786 and had a team-high 16 points on 12 kills, two block solos and four block assists in the win at UC Irvine); Chris Lam, M. Tennis (won singles and doubles matches in 7-0 win over Fresno State); Kate Richardson, W. Gymnastics (won the all-around with a 39.75 and placed first on all four events as UCLA defeated Minnesota on the road with a score of 197.55).
