Corvallis, OR - With the Pac-10 Conference title already clinched, the second-ranked UCLA men's soccer team closed out conference play with a 1-0 loss to Oregon State in Corvallis. Ryan Johnson scored the game's only goal at 18:32 to give the Beavers their first conference win of the year.
The Bruins outshot the Beavers 18-10 in the contest. Barrett and Mike Enfield led the Bruins with three shots. UCLA goalkeeper Eric Reed had two saves.
The Bruins had two chances to equalize in the waning minutes of the game, but Beaver goalkeeper Matt Fitchett made a diving save on an Ahmed Khalil shot, and Khalil had another shot cleared off the line by a Beaver defender.
The loss snaps the Bruins' six-game winning streak and drops their record to 11-3-2, 6-2-0 in the Pac-10. Oregon State improves to 7-10-1, 1-6-0. UCLA will still win the Pac-10 title on the basis of its six conference victories.
