No. 1 Bruins Advance to Stanford Invitational First Place Game

Stanford, CA - The UCLA Women's Water Polo team closed out bracket play at the Stanford Invitational with a 13-1 victory over Santa Clara. The Bruins who now hold a 3-0 record advance to the first place game against No. 2 USC.
UCLA got out to a quick lead against the Santa Clara, scoring five goals in the first period while holding the Broncos scoreless. The second and third periods would be more of the same for UCLA, as the Bruins would score six times while holding Santa Clara scoreless. Santa Clara would get its lone goal in the fourth period, while UCLA would score two more times to close out the 13-1 win.
It was a balanced scoring effort for the Bruins with sophomores Katherine Belden and Paloma Slezak and freshmen Kacy Kunkel, Molly Cahill and Kelley Koepp all scoring twice. Kristina Kunkel, Nicolette Grams and Jenna Murphy rounded out the Bruin scoring effort with one goal each.
Goalkeeper Tahlia Kerr in her first start of the season (not Emily Feher as was previously reported) held the Broncos to one goal while recording four saves.
