Dan Ames Named UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week

Ames became the first athlete in Pac-10 history to win three throwing events at one Pac-10 Championship Meet, winning the shot put (65-0), hammer throw (210-8) and discus (185-11). In all, Ames single-handedly contributed 30 points to UCLA's winning total of 143 points. The Bruins' Pac-10 Championship is their first since 1998.

This is Ames' first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.
