
Francis/Kwinta Advance to Round of 16 at NCAA Championships

Tulsa, Okla. - UCLA's Alberto Francis and Kris Kwinta came from behind to post a three-set victory Thursday in the first round of doubles play at NCAA Men's Tennis Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Francis and Kwinta, a 5-8 seed, overcame a first-set loss to beat Antonio Ruiz/Jose Zarhi of Texas, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. They will meet Harvard's Jonathan Chu/David Lingman in the round of 16 on Friday.
On Wednesday, UCLA's Chris Lam fell in the first round of singles play, losing to SMU's Johan Brunstrom, 6-4, 7-6. Lam got into the draw after several players withdrew, including seventh-seeded Tobias Clemens and Luben Pampoulov of UCLA. Pampoulov was also supposed to play doubles with Philipp Gruendler before withdrawing.
