
Bruins Defeat Trojans in First Day of SAC Tournament

The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated USC Friday night in the first day of the SAC Tournament, hosted by the Bruins on campus.
UCLA won 30-21, 30-25, 30-19 in 70 minutes before a standing room only crowd at the Student Activities Center (SAC), formerly the old Men's Gym.
Senior Damien Scott led the Bruins, who are 6-1 in the preseason, with 11 kills (.560). Senior Paul George and freshman Sean O'Malley each added 10 kills.
UCLA enjoyed a huge night at the net, racking up 12 blocks in three games. Redshirt freshman Jamie Diefenbach led the squad with five blocks, followed by four from Scott and senior Nick Scheftic.
In the other first round match, UC Santa Barbara defeated Cal State Northridge, 28-30, 31-29, 30-25, 30-27.
On Sat., Nov. 5, UCLA hosts UCSB at 10 a.m. and CS Northridge at 3 p.m. USC meets CS Northridge at 10 a.m. and UCSB plays USC at 3 p.m. All matches will be played in the Student Activities Center and admission is free.
