
Fourth-Ranked Bruins Defeat No. 9 LMU, 10-5

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Fourth-ranked UCLA jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the Bruins defeated Loyola Marymount 10-5, in non-conference men's water polo action Thursday at the Burns Recreation & Aquatics Center. Junior Christian Pulido led the way for UCLA with a hat-trick and goalkeeper Will Didinger held the opposition to just five goals for the second consecutive match.
The Bruins (8-2) led 3-1 after the first period and ultimately took a 5-3 lead into halftime. UCLA pulled away in the third quarter as the Bruins scored three unanswered goals and took an 8-3 lead. After LMU began to chip away at the lead, the Bruins cemented the victory with two more scores in the final two minutes.
Senior David Pietsch, juniors Logan Powell, Thomas Foley, Grant Zider and Tyler Krikorian and sophomores Cameron Smith and Marco Santos each also contributed single goals in the win.
The Bruins will take on UC Irvine on Saturday at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in their first home match of 2005.
