Feb. 13, 2006
Junior Noelle Quinn (Los Angeles, CA/Bishop Montgomery HS) of the UCLA Women's Basketball team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week (Feb. 6-12).
Quinn led UCLA to a weekend sweep of the Washington schools that catapulted the Bruins into third place in the Pac-10 standings. In the Bruins' 77-50 win over the Cougars, she had 15 points and helped UCLA limit Washington State to an opponent season-low 50 points. In the 83-75 win over Washington, she scored a game-high 23 points and nearly recorded a triple-double, adding nine assists and eight rebounds. Quinn, who this week was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team, has scored 20 or more points in seven of her last eight games, with the Bruins recording a 6-2 record in those contests and moving from sixth place in the Conference up to third. In those eight games, she is averaging 23.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists, while shooting 56.1 percent from the field. She was also named this week's Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for the third time this year and for a Pac-10 record-tying eighth time in her career.
This is Quinn's second UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and sixth of her career.
