Santa Barbara, Calif. - On the final day of the Gaucho Invitational, the second-seeded Bruins went 1-1, losing to No. 3 Stanford, 4-2, then going on to defeat No. 4 Hawaii, 8-6. The team moves its record to 11-2, 4-0 in conference play.

In the first game of the day against Stanford, UCLA struggled to score. The Bruins went into half time trailing 3-1. The last time UCLA trailed by more than one goal at the half was its loss to Stanford in the semi-finals in the MPSF tournament of 2004. The Bruins scored the only goal in the third quarter, bringing the score to 3-2, but they could not score again and fell to the Cardinal 4-2.

A few hours later the Bruins faced Hawaii in the third-place match. Hawaii gave UCLA a tough fight, but the Bruins held on to win 8-6. Eight different girls scored the eight goals for UCLA.

Leading Bruin scorer, Kelly Rulon, did not score in either game. Second in Bruin goals, Jillian Kraus, only had one goal total for the day.
