Lisa Willis Named UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior guard Lisa Willis (Long Beach, CA/Narbonne HS) of the UCLA Women's Basketball team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week (Feb. 27-Mar. 6).

Willis was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament, which UCLA won for the first-time, securing an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Willis set or tied several Tournament records, including most steals in a Tournament (19), highest steal average in a Tournament (6.3) and most three-pointers made in a Tournament (11). In the Bruins' first game against Cal, she scored 14 points with seven steals. In the 60-59 semifinal win over Arizona State, she scored 20 of her game-high 27 points in the second half, leading UCLA to its first come-from-behind victory of the year. Willis also added six steals and was 5-of-9 from three-point range. And in the championship game against Stanford, which UCLA won 85-76 in overtime, she recorded 20 points with five rebounds, four assists and six steals.

This is Willis' second UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
