
Sbutega's Four Goals Leads No. 4 UCLA Past No. 8 Long Beach State, 13-9

BERKELEY, Calif. - Junior Krsto Sbutega scored a game-high four goals to lead the No. 4 UCLA men's water polo team past No. 8 Long Beach State, 13-9, in overtime Saturday afternoon in the second round of the MPSF Tournament.
The Bruins advance to Sunday's fifth-place game, and will play seventh-seeded UC Santa Barbara (19-13) at 12:30 p.m.
UCLA (20-7) outscored Long Beach State, 5-1, in the two three-minute overtime periods. Sbutega, who scored four goals for the third time this season, registered two goals in the overtime session.
Trailing 8-7 with 2:31 to play in the fourth quarter, senior Justin Johnson scored to even the match, 8-8, and send the game to overtime.
Sophomore goalkeeper Chay Lapin totaled 14 saves in the cage for UCLA.
Long Beach State (19-14) was led by Ashley Blythen and Reid Tomassi, as each player scored two goals. 49er goalkeeper Steve MacKenzie recorded six saves.
