Tempe, Ariz. - The No. 5 UCLA men's tennis team survived one of its toughest tests of the Pac-10 season on Saturday, edging No. 18 Arizona State, 4-3 at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

Saturday's win sets up a thrilling regular-season finale next week at USC, as the 6-0 Bruins will face the 6-0 Trojans for the Pac-10 Championship. The same scenario played out last season when UCLA handed USC its only conference loss with a 4-3 win at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Next week's match will be on Friday at the Marks Tennis Stadium beginning at 3:00 p.m.

UCLA (19-1) won the doubles point Saturday, as Jeremy Drean and Michael Look took an 8-4 victory over Wesley Miller/John Nanonsky at court No. 3. Mathieu Dehaine and Holden Seguso set up that clinching win with an 8-5 victory over Andres Arango/Harry Skinner at court No. 2.

The Bruins would actually take a 3-0 lead in the match after singles play began, as Dehaine (court No. 3) and Nick Meister (court No. 6) both posted straight-set wins. It was at that point, however, that ASU decided to make things interesting.

Consecutive Sun Devil wins by Arango (court No. 2), Miller (court No. 5) and Skinner (court No. 4) suddently tied the match at 3-3.

The match would eventually be decided at court No. 1, where Bruin senior Harel Srugo, ranked No. 38 nationally, pulled off a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over No. 116 Matt Brooklyn.

The Bruins have one more match remaining before its big clash with the Trojans, as UCLA hosts UC Irvine on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
