
Bruins Clinch Playoff Berth with Sweep vs. Pacific

Ninth-ranked UCLA clinched a playoff berth Friday night with a three-game victory against Pacific at the Spanos Center in Stockton, Calif.
The Bruins won 30-26, 30-21, 30-21 in 74 minutes in front of 167 fans. The victory raised the Bruins' overall record to 14-14, 10-11 in MPSF play. The Tigers fell to 3-27, 0-21. UCLA ran its series record to 28-1 against Pacific and earned its 46th playoff berth in the last 47 seasons.
The Bruins were coolly efficient on this night, hitting .372, serving nine aces and out-blocking the Tigers 9.5-5.0. UOP hit just .171.
Junior Garrett Muagututia led the visitors with 12 kills (.500), followed by nine (.471) from freshman Thomas Amberg and eight (.571) from Nick Vogel, who also added three aces. Setter Kevin Ker also served three aces.
Jeff Hendershot led UOP wit 14 kills.
The Bruins will conclude their regular season with a road match on Saturday at Stanford.
