The Bruin steeplechasers took the top four spots in the event on Friday evening at the UCLA Invitational as Jake Matthews and Dylan Knight ran regional qualifiers to lead the way.

Matthews was just off his lifetime-best (9:02.16) as he won in a time of 9:02.42. Knight was second in a time of 9:06.00. Rounding out the top four finishers were Spencer Knight (3rd, 9:13.13) and Marco Anzures (4th, 9:25.54).

In the hammer throw, Thomas Nagengast finished sixth with a mark of 148-7.

Competition continues on Saturday at the UCLA Invitational.
